Problem

Consider a metal whose Fermi surface consists of two separate, nearly spherical pockets centred at Γ\Gamma: an electron pocket of radius ke=0.40 A˚−1k_e=0.40\,\mathrm{\AA}^{-1} (states inside are occupied, band nearly empty) and a hole pocket of radius kh=0.60 A˚−1k_h=0.60\,\mathrm{\AA}^{-1} (states inside are empty, band nearly full). A field B=5.0 TB=5.0\,\mathrm{T} is applied along a direction that cuts both pockets through their centres. ((a)) Find the real-space orbit radius for an electron on the electron pocket and for a hole on the hole pocket. ((b)) State, with reasoning, how the sense of gyration of the two real-space orbits compares for the same B\mathbf{B}.
