Problem

An electron with Lorentz factor γ=500\gamma = 500 in a hot corona inverse-Compton scatters ultraviolet seed photons of energy ε=1.0 eV\varepsilon = 1.0\,\mathrm{eV}, in the Thomson limit. Using the boost relation ε′≈43γ2ε\varepsilon' \approx \tfrac{4}{3}\gamma^2\varepsilon for isotropic scattering, estimate the typical energy of the scattered photon, in eV and in keV.
