Problem

A revised solar model predicts the following neutrino fluxes at Earth, in cm−2 s−1\mathrm{cm^{-2}\,s^{-1}}. Data: pp 5.98×10105.98\times10^{10}; pep 1.5×1081.5\times10^{8}; 7Be{}^{7}\mathrm{Be} 5.2×1095.2\times10^{9}; 8B{}^{8}\mathrm{B} 6.5×1066.5\times10^{6}. Each completed ppI chain emits two neutrinos from its first step (pp or pep, since pep is an alternative to one pp reaction); each completed ppII or ppIII chain emits one first-step (pp) neutrino plus one 7Be{}^{7}\mathrm{Be} or 8B{}^{8}\mathrm{B} neutrino respectively. Use this counting to find the percentage of completed chains that go through ppI, ppII and ppIII.
