Problem

The weight of a quark is (I3,Y)(I_3, Y) with u=(12,13)u = (\tfrac12,\tfrac13), d=(−12,13)d = (-\tfrac12,\tfrac13), s=(0,−23)s = (0,-\tfrac23), and the weight of an antiquark is minus that of the corresponding quark. A meson's weight is the sum of its quark and antiquark weights. ((a)) Find the weight (I3,Y)(I_3,Y) of K+=usˉK^+ = u\bar s, K0=dsˉK^0 = d\bar s and π−=duˉ\pi^- = d\bar u. ((b)) State how many states of the pseudoscalar octet plus singlet sit at the weight (0,0)(0,0), and name them.
