Problem

The Coleman-Glashow relation is (mΣ+−mΣ−)+(mΞ−−mΞ0)=mp−mn.(m_{\Sigma^+} - m_{\Sigma^-}) + (m_{\Xi^-} - m_{\Xi^0}) = m_p - m_n. Using the measured masses mp=938.272 MeVm_p = 938.272\,\mathrm{MeV}, mn=939.565 MeVm_n = 939.565\,\mathrm{MeV}, mΣ+=1189.37 MeVm_{\Sigma^+} = 1189.37\,\mathrm{MeV}, mΞ0=1314.86 MeVm_{\Xi^0} = 1314.86\,\mathrm{MeV} and mΞ−=1321.71 MeVm_{\Xi^-} = 1321.71\,\mathrm{MeV}, predict mΣ−m_{\Sigma^-} and compare with the measured value 1197.449 MeV1197.449\,\mathrm{MeV}.
