Problem

PDG 2024 masses: Ds∗±=2112.2 MeVD_s^{*\pm}=2112.2\,\mathrm{MeV}, Ds±=1968.4 MeVD_s^{\pm}=1968.4\,\mathrm{MeV}, Bs∗0=5415.4 MeVB_s^{*0}=5415.4\,\mathrm{MeV}, Bs0=5366.9 MeVB_s^{0}=5366.9\,\mathrm{MeV}. Constituent quark masses are mc≈1.5 GeVm_c\approx1.5\,\mathrm{GeV}, mb≈4.7 GeVm_b\approx4.7\,\mathrm{GeV}. ((a)) Compute the vector-pseudoscalar hyperfine splittings M(Ds∗)−M(Ds)M(D_s^*)-M(D_s) and M(Bs∗)−M(Bs)M(B_s^*)-M(B_s). ((b)) Compute the ratio of these two splittings and compare it with mb/mcm_b/m_c, commenting on whether heavy-quark hyperfine scaling MV−MP∝1/(m1m2)M_V-M_P\propto 1/(m_1m_2) holds when the light spectator quark is replaced by a strange quark.
