Problem

The Fermi constant is GF=1.1664×10−5 GeV−2G_F = 1.1664\times10^{-5}\ \mathrm{GeV^{-2}} and the WW boson mass is mW=80.377 GeVm_W = 80.377\ \mathrm{GeV}. ((a)) Use GF/2=gW2/8mW2G_F/\sqrt2 = g_W^2/8m_W^2 to find the weak coupling gWg_W. ((b)) Find the dimensionless combination gW2/4πg_W^2/4\pi and compare it with the fine-structure constant α=1/137.036\alpha = 1/137.036.
