Symmetry and Flavour, Ch B mesons: mixing, time-dependent CP asymmetries and the unitarity triangle

Problem

BaBar measured sin⁡2β\sin2\beta in B0→J/ψKLB^0\to J/\psi K_L as well as in B0→J/ψKSB^0\to J/\psi K_S, treating KLK_L as the CP-odd K2K_2 of Chapter 12. ((a)) Find the CP eigenvalue ηCP\eta_{CP} of J/ψKLJ/\psi K_L, and from it λf\lambda_f, SfS_f and CfC_f in terms of β\beta. ((b)) With sin⁡2β=0.709\sin2\beta=0.709 and a single tagging method with wrong-tag fraction w=0.20w=0.20, find the amplitude of the observed sin⁡(Δm Δt)\sin(\Delta m\,\Delta t) term for each of the two final states. ((c)) Explain how the two samples can be combined into one measurement of sin⁡2β\sin2\beta, and what happens if their tagged Δt\Delta t distributions are simply added together.
