Problem

A point charge q=4.0 nCq = 4.0\,\mathrm{nC} is held at a height d=5.0 mmd = 5.0\,\mathrm{mm} above a large earthed conducting plane. The plane is idealised as infinite and the charge as a point. ((a)) Find the surface charge density induced on the plane directly beneath the charge. ((b)) Find the force on the charge, stating its direction.
