Problem

A point charge q=2.5 nCq = 2.5\,\mathrm{nC} sits at a distance b=20 cmb = 20\,\mathrm{cm} from the centre of a conducting sphere of radius a=8.0 cma = 8.0\,\mathrm{cm}. The sphere is isolated (not earthed) and carries zero net charge. Find the net force on the charge, stating whether it is attractive or repulsive.
