The Boundary-Value Problem, Ch The multipole expansion of the potential

Problem

Two point charges lie on the zz-axis: a charge +2q+2q at z=+dz=+d and a charge −q-q at z=−dz=-d, with q=1.0 nCq = 1.0\,\mathrm{nC} and d=4.0 cmd = 4.0\,\mathrm{cm}. Take the origin at the midpoint between them. ((a)) Find the total charge QQ of the distribution. ((b)) Find the dipole moment p\mathbf{p} about the origin, as a vector along z^\hat{\mathbf{z}}. ((c)) State which term of the multipole expansion, monopole or dipole, dominates the potential at large rr, and explain why using how each term falls with rr.
