The Boundary-Value Problem, Ch Cylindrical geometry, edges, and what a field does to a dipole

Problem

A long straight wire carries a uniform line charge density λ=3.0 nC m−1\lambda = 3.0\,\mathrm{nC\,m^{-1}}. Using the two-dimensional solution V(s)=−λ2πε0ln⁡(s/s0)V(s) = -\dfrac{\lambda}{2\pi\varepsilon_0}\ln(s/s_0) for some reference radius s0s_0, find the potential difference V(5 cm)−V(50 cm)V(5\,\mathrm{cm}) - V(50\,\mathrm{cm}).
