Problem

A sphere of transformer oil (εr=2.2\varepsilon_r = 2.2), radius a=2.0 cma = 2.0\,\mathrm{cm}, sits in a uniform applied field E0=5.0×104 V m−1E_0 = 5.0\times10^{4}\,\mathrm{V\,m^{-1}}, far from any other charge or boundary. ((a)) Find the uniform field EinE_{\rm in} inside the sphere. ((b)) Find the induced dipole moment pp of the sphere.
