The Boundary-Value Problem, Ch Energy and force in dielectrics

Problem

Parallel plates of width b=0.050 mb = 0.050\,\mathrm{m}, gap d=0.80 mmd = 0.80\,\mathrm{mm}, are held by a battery at a fixed potential difference V=1.0 kVV = 1.0\,\mathrm{kV} while a dielectric slab of susceptibility χe=1.5\chi_e = 1.5 is partway into the gap. ((a)) Find the pulling force on the slab at this fixed voltage. ((b)) State, without further calculation, how this force would change if the slab were pushed further in while the battery remains connected, and contrast this with how the fixed-charge force behaves.
