The Boundary-Value Problem, Ch Molecular polarisability, permanent dipoles and the Clausius-Mossotti relation

Problem

Krypton's tabulated polarisability volume is α/4πε0=2.48×10−30 m3\alpha/4\pi\varepsilon_0 = 2.48\times10^{-30}\,\mathrm{m^3}. Liquid krypton near its boiling point has density 2.413×103 kg m−32.413\times10^3\,\mathrm{kg\,m^{-3}} and molar mass 83.80×10−3 kg mol−183.80\times10^{-3}\,\mathrm{kg\,mol^{-1}}; krypton has no permanent dipole moment. The measured relative permittivity of the liquid is 1.661.66. Take NA=6.022×1023 mol−1N_A = 6.022\times10^{23}\,\mathrm{mol^{-1}}. Predict the liquid's relative permittivity with the Clausius-Mossotti relation and compare with the measured value.
