Problem

An ideal long solenoid of radius a=3.0 cma = 3.0\,\mathrm{cm} has n=2.0×104n = 2.0\times10^4 turns per metre and carries a steady current I=8.0 AI = 8.0\,\mathrm{A}. ((a)) Find the flux ΦB\Phi_B through the solenoid's cross-section. ((b)) Find AϕA_\phi at s=50 cms = 50\,\mathrm{cm}, well outside the winding. ((c)) Confirm that the curl of this exterior Aϕ(s)ϕ^A_\phi(s)\hat{\boldsymbol{\phi}} vanishes, consistent with B=0\mathbf{B} = 0 outside.
