Problem

A nuclear charge distribution is fitted with a central nucleon density ρ0=0.17 fm−3\rho_0 = 0.17\,\mathrm{fm^{-3}}, and the corresponding neutron separation energy is Sn=8.5 MeVS_n = 8.5\,\mathrm{MeV}. Treating the nucleons as a degenerate Fermi gas of nucleon rest mass energy mc2=939 MeVmc^2 = 939\,\mathrm{MeV}, find ((a)) the Fermi wavenumber kFk_F, ((b)) the Fermi energy ϵF\epsilon_F, ((c)) the depth V0=ϵF+SnV_0 = \epsilon_F + S_n of the mean-field well.
