Problem

An excited nuclear level lies at E=1.33 MeVE = 1.33\,\mathrm{MeV} above the ground state and decays with a mean life τ=3.5×10−14 s\tau = 3.5\times10^{-14}\,\mathrm{s}. Treat the level as an isolated resonance with a Lorentzian lineshape. ((a)) Find its width Γ\Gamma, in eV. ((b)) Find the fractional width Γ/E\Gamma/E.
