Problem

A different odd-mass actinide nuclide decays by α\alpha emission to two levels of its daughter. Branch C, favoured because it preserves the odd nucleon's orbital, has intensity IC=90%I_C = 90\% and computed penetrability PCP_C. Branch D, which requires a change of orbital, has intensity ID=0.060%I_D = 0.060\% and computed penetrability PD=2.5 PCP_D = 2.5\,P_C. Assume equal preformation factors for the two branches in the absence of any change of configuration. Find the hindrance factor of branch D relative to the systematics set by branch C.
