A beam of 100 MeV100\,\mathrm{MeV} protons (rest energy 938.3 MeV938.3\,\mathrm{MeV}) crosses 2.00 cm2.00\,\mathrm{cm} of water (ρ=1.00 g cm−3\rho = 1.00\,\mathrm{g\,cm^{-3}}, radiation length X0=36.1 g cm−2X_0 = 36.1\,\mathrm{g\,cm^{-2}}). The Highland formula for the characteristic multiple-scattering angle is θ0=13.6 MeVβvcpxX0[1+0.038ln⁡ ⁣(xX0)],\theta_0 = \frac{13.6\,\mathrm{MeV}}{\beta_v c p}\sqrt{\frac{x}{X_0}}\left[1+0.038\ln\!\left(\frac{x}{X_0}\right)\right], with cpcp in MeV\mathrm{MeV} and xx the thickness in g cm−2\mathrm{g\,cm^{-2}}. Find θ0\theta_0 in milliradians.
