Problem

A 3 MeV3\,\mathrm{MeV} proton traverses tissue of density 1.00 g cm−31.00\,\mathrm{g\,cm^{-3}}. Its unrestricted mass stopping power is 120 MeV cm2 g−1120\,\mathrm{MeV\,cm^2\,g^{-1}}. Of this, delta rays carrying more than Δ=10 keV\Delta = 10\,\mathrm{keV} per collision remove 15 MeV cm2 g−115\,\mathrm{MeV\,cm^2\,g^{-1}}, energy that is deposited well away from the proton's track. Calculate the restricted linear energy transfer LΔL_\Delta of the proton, in keV μm−1\mathrm{keV\,\mu m^{-1}}.
