Problem

A worker stands where the 1 MeV1\,\mathrm{MeV} neutron fluence rate is ϕ=5.0×106 cm−2 s−1\phi = 5.0\times10^{6}\,\mathrm{cm^{-2}\,s^{-1}}. The tissue kerma coefficient at 1 MeV1\,\mathrm{MeV} is k=2.5×10−11 Gy cm2k = 2.5\times10^{-11}\,\mathrm{Gy\,cm^2} (kerma per unit fluence), and the radiation weighting factor at 1 MeV1\,\mathrm{MeV} is wR=20.7w_R = 20.7. Charged-particle equilibrium holds, so the absorbed dose rate equals the kerma rate. ((a)) Find the kerma (and hence absorbed dose) rate. ((b)) Find the equivalent dose rate.
