Problem

Two electron paths pass on either side of a long thin solenoid, on which the magnetic field is confined entirely inside the coil, so neither path experiences any field. The magnetic flux enclosed between the two paths is Φ=1.5×10−15 Wb\Phi = 1.5\times10^{-15}\,\mathrm{Wb}. The electron charge magnitude is e=1.602×10−19 Ce = 1.602\times10^{-19}\,\mathrm{C}. ((a)) Find the relative phase ∣q∣Φ/ℏ|q|\Phi/\hbar the vector potential adds between the two paths. ((b)) Express this as a fraction of the flux quantum Φ0=h/e\Phi_0 = h/e, and state whether the interference pattern is shifted by less than, exactly, or more than half a fringe.
