Problem

A free proton has γp/2π=42.6 MHz T−1\gamma_p/2\pi=42.6\,\mathrm{MHz\,T^{-1}}, so in a field of magnitude BB it precesses at the ordinary frequency f=(γp/2π)Bf=(\gamma_p/2\pi)B. A proton-precession magnetometer measures this frequency for the protons in a water sample and reports the field. ((a)) At one survey site the measured frequency is 2.00 kHz2.00\,\mathrm{kHz}. Find the magnitude of the field there. ((b)) The frequency can be read to 1.0 Hz1.0\,\mathrm{Hz}. What change in field does a shift of 1.0 Hz1.0\,\mathrm{Hz} correspond to?
