Problem

The He+^+ ion (a single electron bound to a nucleus of charge Z=2Z=2) is a hydrogen-like system, so the SO(4)SO(4) result En=−13.606 eV Z2/n2E_n = -13.606\,\mathrm{eV}\,Z^2/n^2 and the n2n^2-fold spatial degeneracy apply directly with Z=2Z=2. ((a)) Find E3E_3 for He+^+. ((b)) State the spatial degeneracy of this level and the allowed values of ll, and check that the count of states matches n2n^2.
