Problem

A thin sample of area A=4.0 mm2A = 4.0\,\mathrm{mm}^2 carries electrons in a uniform field B=3.0 TB = 3.0\,\mathrm T perpendicular to the sample. Each Landau level holds n=eB/hn = eB/h states per unit area, one for every flux quantum, of size ∣Φ0∣=h/e|\Phi_0|=h/e, threading the sample. ((a)) Evaluate nn in m−2\mathrm{m}^{-2}. ((b)) Evaluate the number of degenerate states N=nAN = nA in one Landau level for this sample.
