Problem

In the shielded-solenoid interference experiment the fringe shift is set by the flux enclosed between two electron paths, although the magnetic field is essentially zero everywhere the electrons travel. Two further claims are sometimes made about it: ((a)) “Sliding the solenoid sideways, while keeping it between the two arms, changes the fringe shift, because it changes the value of A⃗\vec A along each arm.” ((b)) “If the solenoid is moved out from between the arms, the shift survives, because A⃗\vec A is still nonzero along both arms.”For each claim, say whether it is right and, if it is not, give the one sentence that states the correct result.
