Problem

A four-stroke compression-ignition cylinder of swept volume 0.500.50 litres traces a clockwise indicator loop of mean height 8.0×105 Pa8.0\times10^{5}\,\mathrm{Pa}. A four-stroke cylinder fires once every two revolutions. ((a)) Find the net work delivered per cycle. ((b)) Find the power delivered by this cylinder at 36003600 revolutions per minute. ((c)) The cylinder is modelled by an air-standard Diesel cycle (a fixed mass of ideal gas with constant γ=1.40\gamma = 1.40, all legs quasistatic, heat added at constant pressure and removed at constant volume, no friction and no heat leaks) with compression ratio r=V1/V2=20r = V_1/V_2 = 20 and cut-off ratio ρ=V3/V2=2.6\rho = V_3/V_2 = 2.6. Find its efficiency.
