Problem

An interferometric test of a lens gives the following Zernike coefficients in Noll ordering, in waves at λ=550 nm\lambda = 550\ \mathrm{nm}: a2=0.12a_2 = 0.12 (tilt xx), a3=−0.06a_3 = -0.06 (tilt yy), a4=0.25a_4 = 0.25 (defocus), a5=0.04a_5 = 0.04 (astigmatism 0∘0^\circ), a6=−0.02a_6 = -0.02 (astigmatism 45∘45^\circ), a7=0.03a_7 = 0.03 (coma xx), a8=0.015a_8 = 0.015 (coma yy), a11=0.05a_{11} = 0.05 (primary spherical aberration). A focus and tilt adjustment of the mounting removes the tilt and defocus terms exactly. Calculate the rms wavefront error that remains.
