Problem

A camera lens, after focus and tilt adjustment, has residual rms wavefront error σW=0.065\sigma_W = 0.065 waves at λ=633 nm\lambda = 633\ \mathrm{nm}. ((a)) Estimate the Strehl ratio using the Maréchal approximation. ((b)) State whether the Maréchal approximation is valid here and whether the lens meets the λ/14\lambda/14 diffraction-limited criterion.
