Problem

A metal film with complex relative permittivity ϵ~m=−16+2i\tilde\epsilon_m = -16+2i at 405 nm405\text{ nm} is deposited on the base of a prism of index np=1.52n_p = 1.52, in the Kretschmann geometry, with air (ϵd=1\epsilon_d = 1) on the far side of the film. ((a)) Compute the coupling angle θ\theta, measured inside the prism from the normal, at which the p-polarised reflectance dips. ((b)) Compute the plasmon's intensity propagation length along the surface.
