Problem

A rod of terbium gallium garnet (TGG) has Verdet constant VV=134 rad T−1 m−1V_{\mathrm V} = 134\ \mathrm{rad\,T^{-1}\,m^{-1}} at 633 nm and length d=15 mmd = 15\ \mathrm{mm}. A magnetic field B=0.15 TB = 0.15\ \mathrm{T} is applied along the rod's axis, parallel to the direction of travel of a linearly polarised beam passing through it once. Find the rotation of the plane of polarisation, in degrees.
