Problem

A single quarter-wave layer of MgF2_2 (nf=1.38n_f=1.38, real, lossless) is deposited directly on a gold mirror whose complex refractive index at λ=600\lambda=600 nm is n~s=0.35+2.70i\tilde n_s=0.35+2.70i (given). Light in air (n0=1n_0=1) is incident normally. Using the characteristic matrix of the quarter-wave layer terminated by the absorbing substrate, find the power reflectance RR.
