Problem

An object to be recorded holographically at λ=514 nm\lambda = 514\ \mathrm{nm} (an argon-ion laser line) has spatial-frequency content up to νmax⁡=180\nu_{\max} = 180 cycles per millimetre. ((a)) Find the minimum reference angle θR\theta_R (to the axis) that satisfies the separation condition νcar≥3νmax⁡\nu_{\mathrm{car}} \ge 3\nu_{\max}. ((b)) State the corresponding spatial frequency the recording medium must resolve.
