Problem

In a photoelectric experiment, light of frequency 1.3 ν01.3\,\nu_0 (where ν0\nu_0 is the threshold frequency of the metal) and intensity II is initially used. Two successive changes are then made: 1. The intensity is increased to 3I3I while keeping the frequency 1.3 ν01.3\,\nu_0 unchanged. 2. The frequency is now changed to 1.6 ν01.6\,\nu_0 while maintaining the intensity at 3I3I. For each step, predict qualitatively the change (increase, decrease, unchanged) in the following quantities compared with their initial values: (a) Saturation photocurrent after Step 1 (b) Stopping potential after Step 1 (c) Saturation photocurrent after Step 2 (d) Stopping potential after Step 2
