Problem

A 200 g200\,\text{g} block is connected to a spring of force constant 50 N m−150\,\text{N}\,\text{m}^{-1} on a smooth horizontal table. The block performs simple harmonic motion of amplitude 6.0 cm6.0\,\text{cm}. At t=0t = 0 the block passes through the equilibrium position moving in the positive xx-direction with its maximum speed. a) Calculate the time period of the motion. b) Find the time taken, starting from t=0t = 0, for the block to travel from the displacement +3.0 cm+3.0\,\text{cm} to +6.0 cm+6.0\,\text{cm} for the first time. c) Express the time obtained in part (b) as a fraction of the complete period.
