Problem
A wooden box of mass 2 kg is placed on a frictionless horizontal surface. Three horizontal forces act on the box along the same straight line.
(i) A force of 6 N towards the east, a force of 3 N towards the east, and a force of 4 N towards the west act simultaneously. Calculate the magnitude and direction of the net force on the box.
(ii) Using your answer from part (i), determine the acceleration of the box.
(iii) If the box starts from rest, calculate the distance it will cover in 2 s under this acceleration.
