Problem

Let xx, yy and zz be positive real numbers satisfying log⁡ey−log⁡ex=log⁡ez−log⁡ey=k\log_e y - \log_e x = \log_e z - \log_e y = k for some constant kk. (i) Show that xx, yy and zz are in geometric progression and determine their common ratio in terms of kk. (ii) If x=5x = 5 and k=ln⁡3k = \ln 3, find the value of zz. (iii) Hence calculate the sixth term of this geometric progression.
