Problem

A rectangular garden has an area of 180 m2180\,\text{m}^2. The length of the garden exceeds its breadth by 7 m7\,\text{m}. Answer the following: (i) Taking the breadth to be x mx\,\text{m}, form a quadratic equation in xx representing the given information. (ii) Solve the quadratic equation obtained in part (i) and find the breadth correct to two decimal places. (iii) Determine the corresponding length of the garden, again correct to two decimal places. (iv) Verify that the calculated length and breadth satisfy the given area.
