Problem

In quadrilateral ABCDABCD, the sides are AB=9 cmAB = 9\,\text{cm}, BC=12 cmBC = 12\,\text{cm}, CD=9 cmCD = 9\,\text{cm} and DA=12 cmDA = 12\,\text{cm}. The area of ABCDABCD is 108 cm2108\,\text{cm}^2. (i) The diagonal ACAC divides the quadrilateral into △ABC\triangle ABC and △ADC\triangle ADC. If the two triangular areas add up to 108 cm2108\,\text{cm}^2, write an equation satisfied by the length AC=x cmAC = x\,\text{cm}. (ii) Solve the equation to determine the length of ACAC. (iii) State the perimeter of △ABC\triangle ABC using your result.
