Problem

A radio transmitter continuously radiates 500 kW500\,\text{kW} of electromagnetic power. Assume that all this energy comes at the expense of the transmitter’s rest mass and take the speed of light in vacuum to be 3.0×108 m s−13.0\times10^8\,\text{m\,s}^{-1}. (i) Calculate the total energy radiated by the transmitter in one day (24\,h). (ii) Determine the corresponding decrease in the transmitter’s mass during this period. Express your answer in micrograms (μg)(\mu\text{g}).
