Problem

An object is thrown vertically upward from ground level and eventually returns to the ground. (i) State the law of conservation of energy. (ii) Explain how the kinetic energy and gravitational potential energy of the object change as it rises toward its highest point. (iii) At the highest point the object is momentarily at rest. Explain why its mechanical energy is not zero at that instant.
