Problem

Consider two non-zero vectors p⃗\vec{p} and q⃗\vec{q} acting at a point. (i) State the triangle law of vector addition. (ii) With the help of a labelled diagram, explain how the parallelogram law gives the same resultant as the triangle law for p⃗\vec{p} and q⃗\vec{q}. (iii) Using the above laws, justify why vector addition is commutative, that is, why p⃗+q⃗=q⃗+p⃗\vec{p}+\vec{q}=\vec{q}+\vec{p}.
