Problem

A straight copper rod of length 0.30 m0.30\,\text{m} carries a steady current of 5.0 A5.0\,\text{A}. It is kept in a uniform magnetic field of 0.40 T0.40\,\text{T}. (i) Calculate the magnitude of the force acting on the rod when it is held perpendicular to the magnetic field. (ii) The rod is now rotated so that it makes an angle of 60∘60^{\circ} with the magnetic field. Determine the new magnitude of the force. (iii) Find the force per unit length of the rod in both situations.
