Problem

A student writes the expression T=2π l g T = 2\pi \sqrt{\,l\,g\,} for the time period TT of a simple pendulum of length ll oscillating under gravity gg. (i) Verify whether the given expression is dimensionally consistent. (ii) Assuming that TT depends only on ll and gg, obtain the corrected functional form of TT. Keep an undetermined dimensionless constant KK in your result. (iii) Taking K=2πK = 2\pi, calculate the time period for l=0.64 ml = 0.64\,\text{m} and g=9.8 m s−2g = 9.8\,\text{m\,s}^{-2}. Round off your answer to two significant figures.
