Problem

An automobile of mass 1000 kg1000\,\text{kg} moves along a straight, level road. The engine supplies a constant forward force of 2500 N2500\,\text{N} while air resistance and rolling friction together offer 1500 N1500\,\text{N} opposite to the motion. The car starts from rest. Answer the following questions. (i) Calculate the acceleration of the car. (ii) How far will the car travel in the first 5 s5\,\text{s} of its motion? (iii) What will be its speed at the end of 5 s5\,\text{s}?
