Problem

A particle travels for half of the time with constant speed 2 m s−12\text{ m s}^{-1}. In the remaining half of the time, it travels 14\frac14 of its distance at constant speed 4 m s−14\text{ m s}^{-1} and 34\frac34 of its distance at 6 m s−16\text{ m s}^{-1}. Find its average speed during the complete journey.
