Problem

An ellipse has its centre at the origin and foci at (±4,0)(\pm4,0). For every point PP on the curve, PF1+PF2=12PF_{1}+PF_{2}=12, where F1F_{1} and F2F_{2} denote the two foci. (i) Find the values of aa and cc for this ellipse. (ii) Determine bb and hence derive the Cartesian equation of the ellipse in standard form. (iii) Calculate the eccentricity of the ellipse.
