Problem

An electron moves through a uniform magnetic field of magnitude 0.25 T0.25\,\text{T} with its velocity making an angle of 60∘60^{\circ} with the field. (i) Determine the magnitude of the magnetic force experienced by the electron when its speed is 3.0×107 m s−13.0\times10^{7}\,\text{m\,s}^{-1}. (ii) The magnetic field is increased by 20%20\%, the speed of the electron is decreased by 10%10\%, and the angle between its velocity and the field is reduced to 30∘30^{\circ}. Calculate the new magnitude of the magnetic force. (iii) Find the percentage change in the magnitude of the force relative to the value obtained in part (i).
