Problem

In a laboratory, a tuning fork of unknown frequency is sounded together with a standard fork of 256 Hz256\,\text{Hz}. The observer counts exactly 2525 loud maxima in 10 s10\,\text{s}. (i) Find the magnitude of the difference between the frequencies of the two forks. (ii) If the first sound heard at t=0t=0 is a minimum, calculate how many maxima will be heard up to t=10 st=10\,\text{s}. (iii) Determine the time after t=0t=0 at which the third minimum will be heard.
